Assessment Overview
At Speechie, we use the Tests of Dyslexia (TOD) alongside clinical observations to understand literacy challenges and provide evidence-based recommendations.
Our assessments are suitable for anyone experiencing difficulties such as:
Have difficulty learning letter names and sounds
Struggle to hear, identify, or manipulate sounds in words
Show limited awareness of rhyming
Read or spell words inaccurately, even after practice
Find reading slow, effortful, or tiring
Confuse similar-looking letters (e.g., b/d, p/q)
Avoid reading tasks
Reverse letters when writing
Have received structured literacy intervention for 6+ months with little progress
Have strong verbal skills but have difficulty with reading and spelling
Have a family history of learning disorders
Assessments can be tailored for children, teens, and adults, with results used to inform personalised therapy programs, classroom support, or educational planning.

Our Process
Complete the Intake Form
Start by completing our Tests of Dyslexia Intake Form. This helps our team understand the background, concerns, and learning history for you or your child.
Initial Consultation
A Speechie clinician will meet with you to discuss concerns, review relevant history, and determine whether a screening assessment or comprehensive assessment is the most appropriate pathway.
Dyslexia Assessment
The assessment will be completed using the Tests of Dyslexia (TOD). This may involve either a screening assessment (TOD-S) or a comprehensive assessment (TOD-C) depending on the agreed pathway.
Report and Feedback
Following the assessment, you will receive a written report outlining the results, along with a feedback session to discuss findings, recommendations, and possible next steps.
